100 Citrus for schools:
August 10th, 2011

We had a wonderful day on Sunday the 7th of August providing 100 fruit trees to local schools and kindergartens. All 100 fruit trees now have their roots down in their new garden homes in schools and kindergartens all over Auckland. We would like to thank all the teachers and parents for sharing our vision of free and healthy food by taking action and being involved in the ‘Citrus in schools’project.
We have three main goals with this project - to support families with lowering their grocery bills; to encourage local food production; and to teach children how to plant and care for fruit trees. Our commitment for July 2012 is to provide 500-1000 fruit trees to schools and kindergartens. If you want to be part of this project and suggest a site for the planting of a fruit tree please register on our website: www.fruittrees.org.nz. Best wishes, Your fruit tree ladies Judith, Justine, Karen, and Jo

100 fruit trees for schools and kindergartens:
April 28th, 2011
The fruit tree group’s latest initiative is to introduce a community funded “Citrus in Schools” tree planting project for Auckland schools. This project has been developed to benefit children by helping them gain a greater understanding of the importance of eating fresh fruit, and locally sourced produce.
The goal is to plant a total of 100 trees in schools and early childhood centres in the wider community by the end of July. Schools and early childhood centres registered on our fruit trees for Auckland website will each receive up to 5 trees as well as an information pack on how to plant and care for the trees using organic methods and the benefits of eating citrus fruit.

Fruit trees for local schools and kindergartens
September 24th, 2010
Nearly all of the fruit trees we donated to our local schools at the beginning of September have been planted. Our local playcentre had to postpone the planting due to a major makeover on their grounds and we decided that it would be safer to plant the trees after the renovation work has been completed.
Thank you to all the parents, kids and teachers that have been part of this project, we really enjoyed working with you.
We are pleased to say that we received funding from our local board to plant an additional 45 fruit trees for the schools and kindergartens in our community. So lets keep on planting!

Fruit trees for local schools & kindergartens and on Mt Eden:
July 27th, 2010
With the donations made on our website and the money we raised on the market day, we went fruit tree shopping. We bought 21 fruit trees for some of our local schools, play centres, kindergartens and to plant with the Friends of Mangawhau on Mangawhau. These trees will be planted on the 14 of August.
