Coffee grinds and vegetables recycling:
We are always looking for keen gardeners to pick up free vegetable leftovers as well as coffee grinds from our local cafes. If you are a shop owner in Mt Eden village with leftovers to offer, or if you are a gardener and want to help to collect we will find the right partner for you. Please contact: Judith Holtebrinck
Plant fruit trees:
Schools and kindergartens:
The ‘Fruit Trees for Auckland’ working group is now collecting more site suggestions for our community fruit trees project. If you are a parent, teacher or principal and would like to have fruit trees in the grounds of your school or kindergarten, please fill in the details on our fruit tree for Auckland website.
The community garden group meets every Sunday at 2pm at the end of Poronuistreet, behind the bowling club. If you want to be involved, please contact: Michelle Donovan
Recycling stations for household batteries are positioned at the Mount Eden Village Centre and Civic video. If you are a shop owner in Mt Eden Village and if you have space for another recycling station, please contact: Gail Batten
In 2008 some of us joined Transition Town Kingsland with the vision to plant fruit trees for our communities. Transition Towns initiatives are part of a vibrant, international grassroots movement that brings people together to explore how we – as communities – can respond to the environmental, economic and social challenges arising from climate change.
The movement currently has member communities in a number of countries worldwide. To check out your area or start your own Transition Town group go to: http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz
We are looking for financial support to plant more fruit trees and keep on working towards zero waste and a sustainable future. If you would like to support our work, please make a donation online to keep us going.
If you are a company and you share our vision, like the projects we do and have done in the past, we would like to hear from you to discuss a sponsorship agreement that works for both parties. Please contact: Judith Holtebrinck
