Woofing – an alternative holiday experiance

Recently Sara, one of the Mount Eden village people team, had a few days WWOOFing (Willing Workers On Organic Farms). She was working with Charlie and Joy Pringle helping weed pingao grass at Long Beach near Dunedin. Pingao grass is a native sand dune grass which is being re established on a number of beaches around NZ. It is distinctive because of it’’s spectacular golden colour.

In exchange for 3-4 hours work each day in an amazingly beautiful setting Sara was able to enjoy the hospitality of Charlie and Joy, staying with them in their home. This included eating yummy homemade bread and meals prepared by Charlie  and learning of the conservation work they have been committed to for some years. Read more about WWOOFing at www.wwoof.co.nz
