Love Your Mountain Day, Maungawhau-Mt. Eden
The Friends of Maungawhau will be hosting the 5th annual Love Your Mountain Day on Maungawhau-Mt. Eden on
Sunday, December 12, from 10am to 4pm.
Come along and celebrate the environmental diversity and cultural history of our iconic maunga.
- Take a walk round the mountain, check out the fruit trees, and learn about the volunteer conservation project on the quarried western slope.
- Free admission to Eden Garden and Government House grounds. One-hour guided tours starting at 10.30am and 2.30pm. Coffee stand in Glenfell Place at the Government House entrance.
- Learn about the history of Ngati Whatua’s ancestral pa site. Gather at the summit for one-hour guided walks by Tamaki Hikoi starting at 12.30pm and 2pm.
- See fascinating displays on Maungawhau’s archaeology, geology and vegetation at the old Tea Kiosk. (Fill in a comment form and be in to win a Weekend Gardener subscription!).
